Sustainability has been a core value for our campus since it was founded. But what do we really mean by “sustainability?" Elida Erickson, UCSC Director of Sustainability, will share general concepts and ideas behind sustainability at UCSC, review UC President Napolitano’s initiatives such as the Carbon Neutrality Initiative and Global Food Initiative, share past successes and priorities for our campus in the coming year, and discuss what it all means for you!

Faculty Research Talk "What the Mad Cow Prion Protein Teaches Us about Dementia"
Presenter:  Distinguished Professor Glenn Millhauser, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

As a faculty member at UCSC since 1988, Professor Millhauser has used the technique in pioneering investigations of the structural and dynamic properties of proteins, work that has led to a better understanding of human biology and diseases. His groundbreaking work has significantly enhanced our understanding of the structure and dynamics of proteins whose functions are critical for understanding fundamental processes in the brain. He was awarded the UCSC Excellence in Teaching Award in 2016 and 2002.
